The term "Light Tackle" is a relative term. In 2005 while trolling for bas sin Cape Cod Bay with
tube & worn using 30 lb. mono. ; we hooked a 15 foot shark;
I would have called that fishing with light tackle.

I also would call fishing for schoolie tuna(which can reach 100 lbs. or more) off the
Massachusetts coast with spinning rods rigged with 30 lb. test light tackle.

When I'm referring to light tackle, I'm referring to spinning rods with 12 or 17 lb. test  line,
fishing for bass & blues.
